Steven Watson

Can you talk more tonight about what kind of mixed use developments are envisioned for the neighborhood. Will any of the food business developments have retail components that are open to public (like whiskey factory off Gratiot)? What is envisioned north of Superior Street?
Greg Moots
48:59
much of that will be covered, Steve

A Horse Drawn Carriage Service?
Greg Moots
01:06:26
Horse drawn carriage isn't a specific use in the City, If someone brings in the horses and carriages and then they wait for passengers on the street, that would be up to the Dept. of Public Works, as it's not on zoned land. If someone wanted stables for the horses, we'd have to look at that. I don't believe that stables are permitted anywhere currently.

Yrs, I have Served The City in the pass as for hire service. my property is on the corner of St. Aubin and Alexerdrine
Greg Moots
01:11:05
If your use is legally established, then it can continue regardless of a rezoning.
Cynthia Hines

will MKT or SD2 zoning allow growing/processing/distribution of Marijuana
Greg Moots
01:22:15
Marihuana uses are not currently proposed for MKT. Provisioning and safety compliance is conditional in SD2.

I have a question regarding cannabis. I plan on submitting a "legacy" recreational cannabis license when the city council approves the new ordinance. I heard sometime in April, I would submit my application. I am currently zoned M3 which is a zone that allows for the sale of cannabis. I am seeing my zone will change to MKT and I am afraid this will not allow me to submit a license when my zone changes. Does anyone know if MKT will be included in the new ordinance? If not then I would like my zone to be SD2 which is allowed. I am one street out of the SD2 new district.

I live in the 48207-11 Grassroots Detroiters Community. We have received complaints from many of the residents about not being properly notified. You have not said anything about how our community will benefit. Our community is not one that uses zoom or has acees to it, so this is an unfair process.
Barbara Finch
01:27:56
ONCE AGAIN WE HAVE NOT BEEN PROPERLY NOTIFIED ABOUT A MAJOR PROJECT IN OUR COMMUNITY!
Tonja Stapleton
01:30:54
Will consumption lounges be allowed? If not, would you consider allowing them as a conditional use?
Kimani Jeffrey
01:34:04
Frances Arndt and Jos Campau is not included in the rezoning area as that seems to be south of Gratiot. There is nothing proposed to be rezoned in that area. Feel free to email my colleagues or I to confirm with the specific address, but off hand it is not in the subject footprint.
Shannon Hester
01:35:39
As a resident close to Eastern Market Mack Russell Area, who would be best person to contact concerning how we would be affected
Greg Moots
01:36:05
We haven't received any feedback or had discussion on consumption lounges. As the ordinance has been scheduled for a hearing, the CPC would have to request the change, either on their own or after hearing from the public.
Barbara Finch
01:41:14
How did someone outside of the "affected zone" receive notice, when people inside the zone did not receive notice? Also this project will affect a larger area than 300 feet. This will affect the entire community. You nee to contact the 4820711 Grassroots Detroiters. Vince you have our contact info, but I would like for someone to address my question in this meeting.
Kimani Jeffrey
01:45:46
Vince, again, my email is jeffreyk@detroitmi.gov

01:51:14
We would like the opportunity to buy our land before big business can get it.
Adam Mistick
01:52:46
John, do you want a meat packing plant across from your house?
Anne R Goulet
01:53:08
I live right in the heart of the MKT zone. I am extraordinarily impressed
Adam Mistick
01:53:33
Why not rezone the M3 along St. Aubin above Mack as Residential to compliment the exist homes?
Shannon Hester
01:54:17
Are these jobs a livable wage? Can you take care of your family with these jobs?
Barbara Finch
01:54:22
The community wants to know about whatever is going on in our community.
Steven Watson
01:54:29
The facilities will be buffered by substantial green space still as I understand it. I trust that is still the case?
Anne R Goulet
01:55:25
I live right in the heart of the MKT zone. I am extraordinarily impressed with the cleanliness and noise standards. The businesses are cooperative with us. While this is not for everyone, it is much better than I had expected.
Kimani Jeffrey
01:58:27
Barbara Finch, please reach out to me regarding the notice for the public hearing. The hearing has not taken place yet, so we can definitely provide you with any information that you may not have received. That is the purpose of this meeting. The public hearing will be specific to one aspect of this Eastern Market initiative, which is the master plan and zoning. So again, please reach out and we can share any materials that you can also share with anyone else who has not received the info. The public hearing is on November 19th and we would love to have your input.https://detroitmi.gov/departments/planning-and-development-department/neighborhood-plans/central-design-region/eastern-market

Hi Byron, I'm with Pro Tem Sheffield's office. Please email me your concerns at ruttenberga@detroitmi.gov

Ari. Pro Tem Sheffield has an email that addresses our concerns. She can't respond to the one she already has?

Ari. Do you need me to send you the SAME email that was sent to the representative?
Ari Ruttenberg

Unfortunately I do not have that email, and I'm sorry you did not receive a response. But if you could forward me the email I can look into it

As a development consultant, I don’t want to take time away from the residents at this meeting. However, I want to make sure the stormwater setbacks were discussed with DWSD. Our firm worked with them (and others) on the new stormwater management ordinance. My concern is that meeting the requirements for onsite management AND the new stormwater setbacks could make development nearly impossible. I defer to the civil engineers but I would like this to be addressed at CPC if possible. I see Valerie Strassberg on this call. She is an expert, I hope she has provided counsel in this regard. Have a great night everyone!
Steven Watson
02:11:04
Thank you all, Vince, Greg, John, Kimani, and Catherine! I appreciate all the time you’re spending on our neighborhood and community outreach
Kimani Jeffrey
02:14:17
Tonja, that concern can definitely be covered at the CPC public hearing. Your question is a vital one along with the others that have been raised.
